  • Who: Work with a rural not-for-profit community group and village chiefs focusing on bringing clean water and sanitation to local families. You will work collaboratively in small teams, alongside local staff to review existing water and sanitation facilities using a human centred design focus. 
  • What: Assist local staff in the development and implementation of safe hygiene facilities, water access, and small out buildings. You will be involved in: planning, design, budget, material choice, construction and evaluation. Share your knowledge as you provide education for local villagers to ensure sustainability of your project. This project will be overseen by an Australian Engineer and local staff.
  • Where: Eastern Uganda near the town of Busia
  • When: 
    • 2019/2020
      • 6th December 2019 to 4th January 2020 (1 month)
      • 6th December 2019 to 1st February 2020 (2 months)
      • Students may accrue between 160-320 Professional Practicum/Work Experience Hours
      • Applications are now open for our December/January/February placement 
  • Duration: 1 to 2 months 
  • Suitable for: Agricultural, Engineering, Environment & Urban Planning university or college students who have have completed at least their 1st year by the start date of the program. Also open to Professionals.

Education, Health, Computer/IT, Business Placement

  • Who: Work closely with a local not-for-profit organisation empowering and equipping local teachers, leaders and villages in a rural location.
  • What: Health - Share knowledge, deliver training and development, and up-skill local staff, villagers, teachers on topics such as: menstruation, sexual and reproductive health, family planning, infant and child nutrition, positive parenting practices and child protection issues. Education - Work alongside local teachers to deliver material and develop curriculum, whilst contributing to capacity development of local staff. Computer/IT/Business - work with local staff, micro-economic self help groups, and secondary high school children to enhance their education and technical office skills.
  • Where: Busia, Eastern Uganda

    • 2019/2020

      • Students may accrue between 16- to 320 Professional Practicum/Work Experience Hours

  • Suitable for: Health Promotion, Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Health, Sexology, Social Work, Child Development, Education/teaching (Early childhood, Primary or Secondary), Business, Commerce, IT, Computing. Open to university and college students who must have completed at least their 1st year of study by the start date of the placement. Also open to Professionals.
